According to Thomas Kuhn, the famous American scholar of science history, scientific fields undergo periodic "paradigm shifts" rather than solely progressing in a linear and continuous way, and these paradigm shifts open up new approaches to understanding what scientists would never have considered valid before. Nowadays, a majority of people have smartphones, thanks to the fact that people have access to the internet whenever they want, whatever kind of situations they are in. And a new paradigm shift has begun, and it's Google Glass. Google Glass is a type of wearable device with an optical head-mounted display (OHMD). It was developed by Google with the mission of producing a mass-market ubiquitous computer. Google Glass displays information in a smartphone-like hands-free format. Wearers communicate with the Internet via natural-language voice commands. Google started selling a prototype of Google Glass to qualified "Glass Explorers" in the US on April 15, 2013, for $1,500 for a limited period, before it became available to the public on May 15, 2014 for the same price.

I made some assessments about Google Glass in a few areas.
1. Wearing Sensation: Google Glass is made of titanium. So, it is lighter than most people think. Also, because of Google Glass’s HMD (head mount display) is smaller than other HMDs, it has superb wearing sensation. For these reasons, it gets high marks on the area of wearing sensation.
2. Privacy: Recently, Google suspended the sale of Google Glass. The reason for this action was privacy matters of privacy. For example, taking pictures of pedestrians without permission can be an invasion of privacy. Judging from the fact mentioned above, I think it’s inappropriate from the viewpoint of privacy.

3. Risk: It is very dangerous to use smart phones or other devices while you are walking. In fact, a few countries even banned them with law. On this respect, Google Glass has some risks in using.

4. Price: The price of Google Glass is $1500. Because of this fact, I don’t think it would be easy to carry this kind of pricy item all the time, especially if the item should be on your face, which makes it easy for other people to rob. Lastly, in my opinion, it has less cost-effectiveness compared to other wearable devices.
My overall opinion about Google Glass: First I’d like to say that Google Glass is remarkable in that it suggested a new paradigm of smart devices to the world. Before the Google Glass, there was only one wearable smart device, the smart watch, which is just a miniaturized version of a smart phone that can be carried on your wrist. But Google Glass, suggested a new concept and renewed the limit of smart devices.
But still, it is not a good time to buy Google Glass. As I explained above there are serious problems, like invasion of privacy and price. In the case of privacy, currently, there are no laws that can address the problems that Google Glass might have. I’ll take an example of drones. Recently, drones have been making social issues by taking videos of other people’s private life. However, since this drone is a whole new item to the world, there have been no laws that govern the use of drones. Hence, it made a lot of victims and abusers couldn’t be judged in the absence of laws. There would be the same problem if Google Glass gets commercialized. Lastly, it is too expensive for most people. For these reasons, I carefully suggest that the time is not yet ripe to put this kind of device to practical use.
My recommendation: It is true that it is very charming technology. But, still, there are too many points to be addressed before it is used widely. I recommend to buy it when the problems become mitigated.
Main reason: As I said above, there are too many flaws in Google Glass, such as privacy, price, and some serious risks that threaten your safety.
